Sign up for a Decoy/Junk email account
|
|
There are many
companies on the internet who offer free
gifts, items, and services in exchange for
something you have. The key is to
read the small print.
What they are after is your email or home
address. They, in turn, sell your private
information for money to spamming
companies. Spamming companies send
you all those Credit Card applications and
junk email which overloads your existing
email account.
There is a way around this nuisance,
simply open up more email accounts.
I currently have over 20 email accounts
due to the volume of junk mail I
receive. Below are the very best
free email providers:
Hotmail
The most popular but only allows 1
mega byte of storage... hardly
enough for a large photo.
|
Briefcase.com
Probably the best provider as it
stores up to 15mb upon opening,
and the option of 40mb if you
refer 3 friends. Also
includes personal calendar, files,
and other useful info.
|
Mail.com
This is my favorite as it allows
you to choose from dozens of cool
names like: rome.com, gardener.com,
dr.com, and the such.

Save Your Information
|
|
Now that you have this great new email, or
possibly more, make sure you write down
the login and personal information.
If you lose it, you will not be allowed
into that email account again and will
probably miss out on some cool
stuff.
Also, if you choose to give them a phony
address, make sure you write that down as
well as it could come in handy for
regularity. However, if you did give
a phony address, make sure your mailing
address is accurate or you will never get
your free item.
|
|
Delete Unused Accounts
|
|
Most importantly, if you only signed up
for the email account to get one free
item, do the email service provider a
favor and dump the unused email.
This is just a common courtesy so that
others might use that email address in the
future.
You will also want to call the company
that you received the gift from to remove
you from their mailing list or your bogus
email and home address will be swamped
with junk sooner than you think.
